Why You CANNOT Use AC Breakers on Solar DC
The single most dangerous mistake in Pakistani solar installs is using AC MCBs/MCCBs on the DC side. AC current crosses zero 100 times per second — the natural way arcs self-extinguish. DC current never crosses zero, so the arc keeps burning when you try to open the breaker. Within 1-3 seconds the contacts weld closed and the breaker housing melts. Fire risk is real and documented.
