The CNC YCB7 single pole MCB (miniature circuit breaker) is the standard safety breaker used in residential, commercial, and light industrial distribution boards across Pakistan. MCB full form is Miniature Circuit Breaker — a compact electric breaker that automatically disconnects the circuit during overload or short-circuit faults, protecting your wiring and appliances from damage and fire.
Available in current ratings from 2A to 63A, this breaker switch fits every branch circuit in a Pakistani home, shop, or office DB box. Whether you need a 10A breaker for lighting, a 20A breaker for sockets, or a 32A breaker for your inverter AC — this single pole circuit breaker handles it with C-curve trip response designed for the mixed loads common in Pakistani installations.
CNC Electric is a trusted MCB breaker brand in Pakistan with a 5-year replacement warranty on all circuit breakers.

The breaker rating must protect the cable, not the appliance. This is the most common mistake in Pakistani homes — installing a 32A breaker on thin 1.5mm² cable creates a fire risk because the cable overheats before the breaker trips.
| Breaker Rating | Cable Size | Common Application in Pakistan |
|---|---|---|
| 6A | 1.0mm² | Single LED lighting circuit, exhaust fan |
| 10A | 1.5mm² | Lighting ring circuit for 2-3 rooms |
| 16A | 2.5mm² | Socket circuit for small appliances, TV, computer, charging |
| 20A | 2.5mm² | Heavy socket circuit, washing machine, microwave |
| 25A | 4mm² | 1 ton or 1.5 ton inverter AC, medium geyser |
| 32A | 6mm² | 2 ton inverter AC, large geyser, electric oven, EV charger (3.5kW) |
| 40A | 10mm² | Sub-main feeder, multiple AC units on one circuit |
| 63A | 16mm² | Main incoming breaker for single-phase home, large sub-main |
Note: In Pakistan, a 1.5 ton inverter AC draws approximately 7-8 amps running but 25-35 amps during compressor startup (inrush). A 20A C-curve MCB handles this — the C-curve tolerates inrush up to 10× rated current (200A momentary) without nuisance tripping.
| Appliance | Recommended Breaker | Cable | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 ton inverter AC | 16A or 20A | 2.5mm² | ~5-6A running, 15-25A inrush |
| 1.5 ton inverter AC | 20A or 25A | 4mm² | ~7-8A running, 25-35A inrush |
| 2 ton inverter AC | 25A or 32A | 4-6mm² | ~10-12A running, 35-50A inrush |
| Electric geyser (small) | 16A or 20A | 2.5mm² | ~8-10A continuous |
| Electric geyser (large) | 25A or 32A | 4-6mm² | ~12-15A continuous |
| Washing machine | 16A | 2.5mm² | ~3-5A with motor inrush |
| Refrigerator / deep freezer | 10A or 16A | 1.5-2.5mm² | ~1-3A with compressor inrush |
| Microwave oven | 16A or 20A | 2.5mm² | ~5-8A |
| Solar inverter (AC output) | 32A or 40A | 6-10mm² | Depends on inverter kW rating |
| EV charger (3.5kW single phase) | 32A | 6mm² | ~15A continuous at 230V |
| UPS / Inverter output | 20A or 32A | 4-6mm² | Depends on UPS capacity |
| Lighting circuit (full room) | 10A | 1.5mm² | Multiple lights, fans, sockets |
| Type | What It Disconnects | Use When |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Pole (this product) | Live wire only | Branch circuits: individual lights, sockets, appliance circuits in a single-phase DB |
| 2 Pole MCB (double pole) | Live + Neutral | Main incoming breaker, generator/inverter circuits, appliances needing full isolation |
| 3 Pole MCB | 3 phases (L1+L2+L3) | Three-phase motor circuits, industrial equipment without neutral |
| 4 Pole MCB | 3 phases + Neutral | Main incoming breaker in three-phase DB, solar inverter AC output |
For a typical Pakistani single-phase home DB box: use a 63A 2 Pole MCB as the main breaker, and 1 Pole MCBs (this product) for all individual branch circuits.
MCB trip curves define how much inrush current the breaker tolerates before tripping:
| Trip Curve | Trips At | Best For | Use in Pakistan |
|---|---|---|---|
| B-curve | 3-5× rated current | Purely resistive loads (heaters, lights only) | Rarely used — most circuits have motors |
| C-curve | 5-10× rated current | Mixed loads with moderate inrush (ACs, fridges, motors) | Standard for all general circuits |
| D-curve | 10-20× rated current | Heavy inrush (transformers, welding, large motors) | Industrial/factory circuits only |
This CNC MCB uses C-curve, which handles the startup inrush from inverter ACs, refrigerators, washing machines, and UPS systems without nuisance tripping — making it the right choice for virtually every residential and commercial circuit in Pakistan.
Residential homes: Every room's lighting and socket circuit runs through a 1 pole MCB in the DB box. Typical Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, or Multan home uses 6-12 single pole MCBs for individual circuits plus a 2 pole MCB as the main breaker.
Shops and offices: Socket circuits for computers, POS systems, and display lighting. Each circuit gets its own MCB so a fault in one circuit doesn't affect the rest of the shop.
Solar installations: On the AC output side of your solar inverter, this breaker protects the AC wiring running to your DB. For the DC side (panels to inverter), you need DC circuit breakers for solar — not an AC MCB. Using an AC breaker on a DC solar circuit is dangerous because AC breakers cannot safely extinguish a DC arc.
Backup power systems: Circuits fed by UPS, inverter, or changeover switch from generator. Each circuit downstream gets a 1 pole MCB for individual protection.
EV charging: A 3.5kW home EV charger draws approximately 15A continuous at 230V — use a 32A MCB on a dedicated 6mm² cable run from the DB to the charging point.
An MCB protects against overload and short circuit only. It does NOT protect against:
Electric shock / earth leakage — If you touch a live wire and current flows through your body (as little as 30mA), the MCB will NOT trip because 30mA is far below its rated current. You need an RCBO earth leakage breaker for shock protection. Every bathroom, kitchen, and outdoor circuit in Pakistan should have one.
Voltage fluctuation — If WAPDA voltage spikes to 280V or drops to 140V, the MCB will not react. You need a voltage protector (VA device) to disconnect during over/under voltage.
Lightning and surge — A nearby lightning strike can send thousands of volts through your wiring. The MCB will not stop this. You need an SPD surge protection device at your main panel.
A properly protected Pakistani home DB has MCBs for circuit protection, an RCBO for shock protection, a VA protector for voltage issues, and an SPD for surge/lightning protection. Browse our solar DB bundles for pre-configured protection kits that include all of these.
MCB stands for Miniature Circuit Breaker. It is a compact, DIN-rail mounted safety breaker that automatically disconnects the circuit during overload or short-circuit conditions. In Pakistan, electricians and shopkeepers often call it a "safety breaker" or simply "breaker switch" — these all refer to the same device. The MCB replaced traditional rewirable fuses because it can be reset after tripping instead of needing wire replacement.
The CNC 1 Pole 63A MCB is available at Rs.425 at CNC Electric Pakistan. Competitor brands like Schneider Domae single pole MCB typically cost Rs.950-1,150, and Chint NXB-63 costs Rs.500-550. CNC offers comparable IEC 60898-1 certified performance at a lower price point, with a 5-year replacement warranty included.
A 1.5 ton inverter AC draws approximately 7-8 amps running but has compressor startup inrush of 25-35 amps. Use a 20A C-curve MCB on 4mm² cable for a dedicated circuit. The C-curve tolerates the momentary inrush without nuisance tripping. If your AC is a fixed-speed (non-inverter) unit, the inrush is higher — use a 25A MCB instead. Never put two ACs on the same breaker circuit.
MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) handles up to 63A with fixed trip curves — it's for branch circuits in homes and shops. MCCB (Molded Case Circuit Breaker) handles 100A-1600A with adjustable trip settings — it's for factory mains and commercial buildings where loads exceed 63A or fault levels exceed 6kA. For most Pakistani homes, MCBs are sufficient. If your total load exceeds 63A, see our MCCB breakers.
Yes. In Pakistan, "safety breaker" is the common name for what engineers call an MCB (miniature circuit breaker). Other common names: breaker switch, electric breaker, trip switch, circuit breaker. They all refer to the same device — a compact breaker that mounts on a DIN rail inside your DB box and automatically trips when current exceeds safe limits.
No. This is an AC breaker rated for 230V AC circuits. Solar panels produce DC (direct current), and DC circuits require purpose-built DC circuit breakers. Using an AC MCB on a DC solar circuit is dangerous — the breaker may fail to extinguish the DC arc during a fault, leading to sustained arcing, overheating, and potential fire. For the AC output side of your solar inverter, this MCB is appropriate.
Common causes in Pakistan: (1) Overloaded circuit — too many appliances on one breaker. Add up the amps and check if total exceeds the breaker rating. (2) Wrong breaker size — a 10A breaker on an AC circuit will trip every time the compressor starts. (3) Short circuit — damaged wiring, water in a junction box, or a faulty appliance. Unplug everything and reset — if it trips immediately with nothing connected, the fault is in the wiring. (4) High ambient temperature — in Pakistani summers (45-50°C), DB box temperatures can reach 60°C. At these temperatures, an MCB derates by 10-20%, meaning a 10A MCB may trip at 8-9A. This is normal physics, not a defect — either upsize the breaker or improve panel ventilation. Pair with an aerosol fire extinguisher for added panel safety. For over and under voltage protection, add a voltage protector to your board.
Both CNC and Schneider manufacture MCBs to the same IEC 60898-1 standard with 6kA breaking capacity at 230V. Schneider (Domae series) is a well-known European brand with higher pricing (Rs.950-1,150 for a single pole 63A). CNC offers the same certified performance at approximately 50-60% lower price (Rs.425 for single pole 63A) with a 5-year warranty. For residential and light commercial use in Pakistan, either brand provides reliable protection — the choice depends on budget and brand preference.
