LED Indicator Light Pakistan 2026 — 22mm Panel Pilot Lamp Colour Code & Wiring

Last verified: 2026-05-29 · Author: CNC Electric Pakistan Engineering Team · Reading time: 6 min

The 22mm LED indicator light (pilot lamp) is the most common signalling device on Pakistani electrical panels. The right colour-coded indicator tells operators at a glance whether a motor is running, a fault has occurred, or the system is in maintenance mode. Get the colour code wrong and operators ignore real faults; get the voltage rating wrong and your indicators fail every few months.

Quick Answer — IEC 60204-1 Colour Code

Colour IEC 60204-1 Meaning Typical Pakistani Use Price (PKR)
Red Fault / dangerous condition / immediate action required Trip indication, overcurrent, fault alarm Rs. 180 – 380
Green Normal / equipment ready / safe "Motor running", "Power on", "Ready" Rs. 180 – 380
Yellow / Amber Caution / abnormal but not yet failure High temperature, low pressure, pre-trip warning Rs. 180 – 380
White / Clear Confirmation / neutral information "Lamp test", general indication, voltage present Rs. 180 – 380
Blue Mandatory action by operator "Press reset", "Acknowledge alarm" Rs. 220 – 420
Red Buzzer Audible alarm + visual Critical fault, emergency stop activated Rs. 850 – 1,600

Voltage Ratings — Wide-Range vs Fixed

Modern LED pilot lamps come in two distinct voltage variants:

Variant Voltage Window Use
Wide-range LED 12-48V DC 12 / 24 / 48 V DC any PLC outputs, instrumentation panels
Wide-range LED 110-240V AC 110 / 220 / 240 V AC any Standard Pakistani 220V AC panels
Fixed 24V DC 24V DC only ±10% Older industrial control
Fixed 230V AC 230V AC ±10% Direct line voltage on contactor auxiliaries
Filament 24V (legacy) 24V AC/DC Old installations — replace with LED, saves 80% energy

Pakistani recommendation: standardise on 110-240V AC wide-range LED for AC panels and 12-48V DC wide-range LED for PLC-driven indications. This means one part number works across multiple voltage scenarios.

22mm Standard — Mounting & Compatibility

22mm is the universal IEC standard for panel-mount indicators, push buttons, and selector switches. Mount-hole specification:

  • Hole diameter: 22.5mm ±0.4mm
  • Panel thickness: 1-6mm with included rubber gasket (IP65 sealing)
  • Behind-panel depth: 35-45mm (allow clearance from wires + busbars)
  • Centre-to-centre spacing: ≥30mm (to fit standard finger-touch)

This means an indicator, a push button and a selector switch all use the same panel hole — change function without re-drilling.

Wiring Diagrams — Common Configurations

"Motor Running" Green Indicator

Wire the green indicator across the auxiliary NO contact of the motor contactor. When contactor pulls in, aux contact closes, indicator lights. Cost: Rs.180-280 for the indicator + 2 metres of 1mm² wire.

"Overload Trip" Red Indicator

Wire the red indicator across the auxiliary NC contact of the overload relay (1NC contact opens on trip). Use NC of the overload (so light goes OUT when overload pulls in NC opens — wait, that's wrong). Better: use NO contact of the trip mechanism that closes on trip. Many CNC overload relays have a dedicated trip-indication contact (terminal 96).

"Fault" Red Lamp + Buzzer

Combine a red LED indicator + 80dB buzzer in series on a fault condition. When the fault occurs, the lamp lights and the buzzer sounds. Add a "Silence" push button (latching relay) to acknowledge the buzzer while keeping the lamp on until fault is cleared.

"Lamp Test" White Push-to-Light

Wire all indicators on the panel through a master "Lamp Test" white push button. Pressing it energises all lamps simultaneously to verify they work — done weekly as part of panel walk-around.

FAQs

What is the price of an LED indicator light in Pakistan?

CNC 22mm LED panel indicator lights: standard colours (red/green/yellow/white) from Rs.180-380; blue Rs.220-420; illuminated push-button combo Rs.450-650; indicator + buzzer combo Rs.850-1,600; weatherproof IP67 Rs.480-720.

What colour LED for what function?

IEC 60204-1 colour code: Red = fault/danger; Green = normal/ready; Yellow = caution/warning; White = neutral information; Blue = mandatory operator action. Always follow this standard — operators worldwide are trained to recognise it.

Can I use 220V AC indicators on 24V DC?

No — 220V indicators have a 4-5K series resistor that will not drop 24V down to LED operating voltage; the LED won't light. Use the correct voltage variant or buy wide-range (12-240V) units that work across both.

How long do LED indicators last?

Quality LED indicators (CNC, Schneider, Siemens) are rated 50,000+ hours = 5-7 years of continuous operation. Cheap unbranded units fail in 6-18 months due to driver circuit failures. Pay Rs.180 for branded vs Rs.80 for unbranded — pays back in maintenance time.

Do I need a separate transformer for 24V indicators?

If you have other 24V loads on the panel (PLCs, relays) already, share that supply. If you only need a few indicators, just use 220V AC variants directly — no transformer needed. Pakistani panels are mostly 220V AC native; 24V is for control circuit signalling.
