DIN Rail Pakistan 2026 — TH35 vs TS32 Standard, Mounting & Price Guide

The DIN rail (DIN 50022 / EN 50022) is the metal strip inside every Pakistani distribution board that holds MCBs, RCCBs, contactors, terminal blocks, and SPDs in place. Using the wrong DIN rail width — or the wrong material — is the #1 cause of board components vibrating loose, falling off, or not seating properly. This guide tells you exactly which DIN rail to specify.

Quick Answer — 3 DIN Rail Standards

Standard Width × Depth Use Price (PKR / m)
TH35-7.5 (most common) 35mm × 7.5mm 99% of MCBs, RCCBs, contactors Rs. 280 – 480 / m
TH35-15 (heavy duty) 35mm × 15mm Larger MCCBs, heavy contactors > 65A Rs. 580 – 950 / m
TS32 (mini-rail) 32mm × 7.5mm Older European switchgear, niche Rs. 380 – 620 / m
G-rail 32mm 32mm G-shape Legacy industrial relay racks (uncommon in PK) Rs. 480 – 780 / m

TL;DR: For 99% of Pakistani applications use TH35-7.5 (35mm × 7.5mm top-hat). All standard MCBs, RCCBs, RCBOs, terminal blocks, contactors up to 65A, SPDs, timers, and PLCs use this profile.

Material Choice — Steel vs Aluminium

  • Cold-rolled steel zinc-plated (most common, default): cheaper, stronger, magnetic. Standard for residential / commercial DB. CNC default offering.
  • Aluminium: lighter (40% of steel weight), non-magnetic (important for sensitive electronic instruments), corrosion-resistant for humid Karachi coastal sites. 25-40% more expensive.
  • Stainless steel 304: for marine, chemical plant, food-processing facilities where corrosion is constant. 3-4× the price; rarely needed in Pakistan.

Length Standards

Length Typical Use Modules Held (18mm)
125mm Mini junction box 6 modules
250mm Small enclosure / 8-way DB 12 modules
500mm 12-18 way DB 24 modules
1000mm Standard panel-build stock length 52 modules
2000mm Bulk for panel builders, cut to size 110 modules

For panel-build shops in Pakistan, buy by the 2-metre length and cut with a metal saw or angle-grinder cutting disc on site. Deburr the cut end with a file to avoid hand injuries during MCB clip-on.

Mounting Hole Spacing

Standard DIN rail comes pre-punched with mounting slots at 25mm spacing for M5 screws. Always use at least 3 mounting screws per metre of rail (start, middle, end). Heavy loads (MCCB, large contactor) need 4-5 screws per metre to prevent flexing.

Common Pakistani Wiring-Board Errors

  1. Using TS32 instead of TH35: MCBs designed for 35mm rail won't clip properly on 32mm — they fall off under vibration. Always check the rail spec on the back of new MCBs.
  2. Mounting on plain steel sheet without rail: some Pakistani panel builders skip the rail and screw MCBs directly. This bypasses the snap-mount, voids warranty, and creates a fire risk if the MCB shifts during a short-circuit event.
  3. Mixing 7.5mm and 15mm depth: 15mm-depth rail won't fit standard 35mm enclosure depth budget. Plan ahead.
  4. Reusing rusted rail: salvaged rail from old panels often has thread-stripped slots. Buy new — Rs. 280/m is too cheap to skimp on.

FAQs

What is the price of DIN rail in Pakistan?

CNC DIN rail Pakistan: TH35-7.5 steel zinc-plated Rs. 280-480 per metre; TH35-15 heavy-duty Rs. 580-950/m; aluminium Rs. 480-720/m; stainless Rs. 1,200-1,800/m. Cut lengths 125/250/500/1000/2000mm. Bulk panel-builder pricing on 50+ metres.

What size DIN rail do MCBs use?

Standard MCBs, RCCBs, RCBOs, terminal blocks, contactors up to 65A, SPDs, timers all use TH35-7.5 (35mm wide, 7.5mm deep) per IEC 60715. This is the universal Pakistani standard.

Can I use TS32 rail for MCBs?

No. TS32 rail is 32mm wide vs the 35mm width that standard MCBs are designed to clip onto. MCBs forced onto TS32 will not snap securely and may fall off under vibration. Always use TH35.

Steel or aluminium DIN rail?

Steel for 95% of installations — cheaper, stronger, magnetic. Aluminium for humid coastal Karachi sites (corrosion resistance) or non-magnetic requirements (instrument racks). Stainless only for marine/chemical/food-processing.

How do I cut DIN rail to length?

Use a hacksaw, angle grinder with cutting disc, or DIN-rail-specific shear. Deburr the cut end with a file. Drill new M5 mounting hole 25mm from the cut end if you cut between existing mounting slots.
