Most of the time a lighting or heating contactor should follow its control signal automatically. But there are moments — commissioning, maintenance, a failed timer, an emergency — when you need to switch the circuit by hand at the board without rewiring. The YCCH7 adds exactly that: a manual override selector on the front, on an otherwise standard modular contactor.

What the YCCH7 does

Electrically the YCCH7 is identical to the YCCH6 — it switches lighting, heating and similar loads from a coil signal. The difference is the front override selector, which gives you direct manual control of the contacts alongside the automatic coil control.

The code reads YCCH7-[current] / [contacts] — same convention as the YCCH6: /20 = 2NO, /40 = 4NO, /02 = 2NC, /04 = 4NC, /11 = 1NO+1NC, /22 = 2NO+2NC, /31 = 3NO+1NC.

YCCH7 vs YCCH6

The two are the same contactor electrically. The YCCH7 adds the manual override selector (and is about 5 mm deeper to house it); the YCCH6 is the automatic-only version. Choose the YCCH7 where you want local hand control at the board; choose the YCCH6 where automatic control alone is enough. Note the YCCH7 range tops out at 63 A (the 100 A rating is YCCH6-only).

Frequently asked questions

What does the manual override do?

It lets you operate the contactor by hand from the front, independently of the coil signal. You can force it OFF (O), force it ON (I), run a momentary push (I+P) that springs back, or leave it in AUTO to follow the control signal as normal.

When would I use manual override?

During commissioning or maintenance, when a timer or controller fails, or in an emergency — any time you need to switch the circuit at the board without waiting for or rewiring the control signal.

What is the difference between the YCCH7 and the YCCH6?

They are electrically identical modular contactors. The YCCH7 adds the front manual-override selector (and is slightly deeper); the YCCH6 is automatic-only. The YCCH7 range is 16–63 A; the YCCH6 also offers 100 A.

Does forcing it ON bypass the control system?

Yes — the I position holds the contacts closed mechanically regardless of the coil signal, and O holds them open. Return the selector to auto to hand control back to the control system.

Which coil voltage should I choose?

Match it to your control voltage — 24, 110 or 230 V, with 230 V the common choice.
