Built-in protections

A pump running unattended in a field needs to protect itself. The YCB2200PV includes protection against surge, over-voltage and under-voltage, locked pump, open circuit, short circuit, overheating, and dry running. The dry-run protection matters most — it stops the pump automatically when the water level drops, preventing the burnt-out motor that ruins so many tubewell pumps.

Can I convert my existing tube well to solar with this drive?

Yes — that's the most common use. If you already have a three-phase pump, the YCB2200PV plus a matched solar array lets it run on sunlight instead of diesel or grid. Send us the pump's kW/HP and we'll size the drive and panels.

Does a solar pump drive need batteries?

No. It runs the pump directly from the panels while the sun is up, which is when irrigation is needed. Skipping the battery bank is what makes solar pumping so cost-effective and low-maintenance.

What size do I need for a 5 HP or 10 HP tubewell?

A 5 HP (≈4 kW) three-phase pump uses the T4D0G; a 10 HP (≈7.5 kW) pump uses the T7D5G. Use the sizing table above to match your pump, or message us with the details.

Does it work on cloudy days?

Yes, at reduced output. The MPPT extracts whatever power the panels produce and runs the pump more slowly in weak light rather than stopping, so you still get water — just less of it than at midday.

What does MPPT do?

Maximum Power Point Tracking continuously finds the voltage at which your solar array delivers the most power as sun and temperature change, so the pump always runs at the best speed the panels can support. The YCB2200PV tracks up to 99% of available power.

Does it protect the pump from running dry?

Yes. Built-in dry-run protection stops the pump when the water level falls too low, preventing the motor damage that dry running causes. It also protects against locked pump, over/under-voltage, short circuit and overheating.
