The CNC YCB7H 2 pole MCB (miniature circuit breaker) is a double pole breaker that disconnects both live and neutral simultaneously — providing complete isolation of the circuit. MCB full form is Miniature Circuit Breaker, and this 2P version is the standard main incoming breaker for single-phase distribution boards across Pakistan.
Unlike a 1 pole MCB which only disconnects the live wire, this double pole MCB breaker cuts both live and neutral — essential for circuits fed by generators, inverters, or changeover switches where the neutral may carry dangerous voltage during a fault. Every single-phase home DB box in Pakistan needs a 2 pole MCB as its main breaker switch.
Available from 10A to 63A with C-curve trip response, this safety breaker handles everything from a small sub-main to the main incoming supply for a full Pakistani household. CNC Electric is a trusted MCB breaker brand in Pakistan with a 5-year replacement warranty on all circuit breakers.

In Pakistan's electrical system, a single pole breaker only disconnects the live wire — the neutral remains connected. This is fine for individual branch circuits. But for your main incoming breaker, you need both wires disconnected for these critical reasons:
Neutral failure protection: In Pakistani wiring, neutral failures are extremely common — especially in areas with shared neutral or underground cable problems. When the neutral breaks, some appliances can receive up to 440V instead of 220V, destroying AC compressor boards (Rs.15,000-35,000 repair), refrigerator circuits, and electronics. A 2 pole MCB as the main breaker allows you to disconnect the entire circuit — both live and neutral — during maintenance or emergencies.
Generator and inverter circuits: When switching between WAPDA and generator via a changeover switch or automatic transfer switch (ATS), the neutral from the generator is different from the WAPDA neutral. A 2 pole breaker ensures complete isolation of both wires when switching sources.
Solar inverter AC output: The AC output from your solar inverter needs a 2 pole MCB before entering the DB box. This ensures the inverter is fully isolated during maintenance — critical for safety because the inverter generates its own live and neutral.
| Rating | Cable Size | Common Use as 2 Pole Breaker in Pakistan |
|---|---|---|
| 10A | 1.5mm² | Sub-circuit for lighting only, small UPS output |
| 16A | 2.5mm² | Dedicated appliance circuit (washing machine, geyser on its own line) |
| 20A | 2.5mm² | 1-1.5 ton inverter AC on dedicated circuit with full isolation |
| 25A | 4mm² | Small inverter/UPS output, 1.5 ton AC dedicated circuit |
| 32A | 6mm² | Sub-main feeder to secondary DB, small shop main, EV charger circuit |
| 40A | 10mm² | Main incoming breaker for small home (2-3 ACs), solar inverter output up to 8kW |
| 63A | 16mm² | Standard main incoming breaker for typical Pakistani single-phase home, large shop, solar inverter up to 15kW |
Most common choice: 63A as the main incoming breaker for a Pakistani home. This sits at the top of your DB box, before all branch 1 pole MCBs. If your total load exceeds 63A, you need an MCCB breaker instead.
| Type | Disconnects | Use When | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Pole MCB | Live only | Branch circuits: individual lights, sockets, single appliance | Rs.425 |
| 2 Pole MCB (this product) | Live + Neutral | Main breaker, generator/inverter circuits, full isolation | Rs.850 |
| 3 Pole MCB | 3 phases (L1+L2+L3) | Three-phase motor circuits, industrial without neutral | Rs.1,300 |
| 4 Pole MCB | 3 phases + Neutral | Three-phase main breaker, solar inverter 3-phase output | Rs.1,850 |
A properly wired single-phase home in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, or any city in Pakistan should have this DB box structure:
Position 1 (top): 2 Pole MCB 63A (this product) — main incoming breaker. All power flows through this first. Install a VA voltage protector immediately after this breaker for voltage protection.
Position 2-12 (branches): 1 Pole MCBs (Rs.425 each) — one per circuit. Typical home: 10A for lighting, 16A for sockets, 20A for each AC, 16A for geyser, 10A for refrigerator.
Add for safety: RCBO earth leakage breaker for bathroom/kitchen circuits, SPD surge protector at the main panel for lightning protection. Browse our solar DB bundles for pre-configured kits that include all these components.
MCB trip curves define how much inrush current the breaker tolerates before tripping:
| Trip Curve | Trips At | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| B-curve | 3-5× rated current | Purely resistive loads only — rarely used in Pakistan |
| C-curve | 5-10× rated current | Standard for all general circuits — handles AC/motor startup inrush |
| D-curve | 10-20× rated current | Heavy inrush — industrial/factory circuits only |
A 2 pole MCB protects against overload and short circuit only. It does NOT protect against:
Voltage fluctuation — If WAPDA voltage spikes to 280V or drops to 140V, the MCB will not react. Install a VA voltage protector (Rs.1,700-2,000) immediately after this 2 pole main breaker. The VA device monitors voltage 24/7 and disconnects if it goes outside safe range — protecting your AC, fridge, and electronics from burning.
Electric shock / earth leakage — If someone touches a live wire, 30mA flowing through the body will not trip this MCB. You need an RCBO earth leakage breaker on bathroom, kitchen, and outdoor circuits.
Lightning and surge — Thousands of volts from a nearby lightning strike will pass right through the MCB. Install an SPD surge protection device at the main panel.
A 2 pole MCB (double pole breaker) is a miniature circuit breaker that disconnects both the live wire and the neutral wire at the same time. MCB full form is Miniature Circuit Breaker. The "2 pole" means it has two switching mechanisms linked together — when it trips or is switched off, both poles open simultaneously. In Pakistan, electricians call it a "double pole breaker" or "DP breaker" or simply "2P MCB". It's the standard main incoming breaker switch for single-phase home and shop DB boxes.
A 1 pole MCB only disconnects the live wire — the neutral stays connected. In Pakistan, neutral failures are common and can send dangerous voltage through the neutral wire. With a 2 pole MCB as your main breaker, when you switch it off for maintenance or it trips during a fault, both wires are completely disconnected — zero voltage in your DB box. This is essential for safe maintenance and for circuits connected to generators or solar inverters where the neutral path differs from WAPDA supply.
For most single-phase homes in Pakistan, a 63A 2 pole MCB is the standard main incoming breaker. This handles a typical household with 2-3 ACs, geyser, refrigerator, washing machine, and general lighting/sockets. If your home has more than 3 ACs or heavy commercial loads, you may need an MCCB breaker rated at 100A or higher.
The CNC 2 Pole 63A MCB is available at Rs.850 at CNC Electric Pakistan. Competitor brands: Schneider Domae 2P 63A typically costs Rs.1,800-2,200, and Chint 2P 63A costs Rs.1,000-1,200. CNC offers the same IEC 60898-1 certified performance with 6kA breaking capacity at approximately 50-60% lower price, with a 5-year replacement warranty included.
Yes — a 2 pole MCB is essential on both the WAPDA side and the generator side of a manual changeover switch. Each source needs its own 2P MCB for isolation. When switching between sources, you turn off one 2P breaker before turning on the other. For automatic switching, use an ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) which handles this in under 50 milliseconds.
Yes. The AC output from your solar inverter must pass through a 2 pole MCB before entering your DB box. This ensures complete isolation of the inverter during maintenance — critical for safety because the inverter generates its own live and neutral even when WAPDA is off. For the DC side (panels to inverter), you need separate DC circuit breakers rated for your system voltage (500V, 1000V, or 1500V). Pair with an aerosol fire extinguisher for added panel safety. For over and under voltage protection, add a voltage protector to your board.
Both disconnect live and neutral, but they work differently. A 2 pole MCB has two independent trip mechanisms — both poles are protected and can trip independently on overload. A 1P+N MCB has one protected pole (live) and one switched-only pole (neutral) — the neutral follows the live but doesn't have its own overload detection. For main incoming breakers, a true 2 pole MCB (Rs.850) is recommended over 1P+N (Rs.825) because both poles are independently protected.
Both CNC and Schneider manufacture 2 pole MCBs to the same IEC 60898-1 standard with 6kA breaking capacity. Schneider (Domae series) is a European brand with pricing at Rs.1,800-2,200 for a 2P 63A. CNC offers identical certified performance at Rs.850 — more than 50% savings — with a 5-year replacement warranty. For residential and commercial use in Pakistan, either brand provides reliable protection. The choice depends on budget and brand preference.
